1 Overview

Krisp is an AI-powered meeting assistant that helps you communicate more clearly and stay on top of your conversations

TMF BU has adopted Krisp to help reduce distractions during calls, improve audio quality for everyone, and save you time by automatically generating meeting notes and summaries. 

ℹ️ Krisp works in the background with your existing apps - you don't need to switch to a new meeting tool.

2 Key Features

  • Noise cancellation: Removes background noise from your microphone (Ex: your keyboard, traffic, barking dogs, or chatter)
  • Echo removal: Eliminates echo caused by speakers being picked up by your microphone
  • AI meeting summaries: At the end of a meeting, Krisp can automatically generate a summary of what was discussed.
  • Transcriptions: Krisp can transcribe your meetings in real time, giving you a record of the conversation.
  • Call notes and action items: Krisp's AI assistant highlights key points, decisions, and action items from your meetings automatically.
  • Integrations: Works seamlessly with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Dialpad, and most other meeting platforms without any extra setup.

3 How to Get Started

Krisp Installation is handled by the IT Service Desk. If you have been issued a Krisp license please email the service desk for assistance

Enabling Krisp during meetings

  1. Open your meeting app (Teams, Zoom, etc.) and go to its audio settings.
  2. Under Microphone, select Krisp Microphone.
  3. Under Speaker, select Krisp Speaker (if you want echo removal on your end too).
  4. That's it! Krisp is now active for your call.
💡 You only need to change these audio settings once. Most apps will remember them for future meetings.

4 How to Use During a Meeting

⚠️ Please remember to inform attendees that the call is being transcribed. This is a legal requirement.

 

Noise cancellation

  • The Krisp icon lives in your system tray (bottom-right on Windows, top-right on Mac).
  • Click it to open the Krisp panel.
  • Toggle the microphone noise cancellation switch on or off as needed.
  • A green indicator means it's active and filtering noise.

AI notes and summaries

  • Open the Krisp panel before or during your meeting.
  • Click Start Recording or enable the AI Notes toggle.
  • Krisp will transcribe and analyse the conversation in the background.
  • When the meeting ends, click Stop.  Your summary and notes will appear in the Krisp app and may be sent to your email depending on your settings.
  • Review and edit the notes if needed before sharing with colleagues.

5 Tips for Best Results

Headset and microphone tips

  • A headset with a dedicated microphone will give you the best audio quality and transcription accuracy.
  • Position your microphone close to your mouth - roughly a fist's width away.
  • Avoid using your laptop's built-in microphone if possible. There are certain Krisp features that require a headset for use.

Environment tips

  • Close windows and doors to reduce background noise before important calls.
  • If you're in a noisy space, keep noise cancellation on
  • Avoid eating or drinking directly into the microphone during calls.
  • Speak clearly and at a consistent volume to improve transcription accuracy.

6 Frequently Asked Questions

Does Krisp store my meeting recordings?
Krisp processes audio locally on your device for noise cancellation. If you choose to use the AI notes/transcription feature, meeting content is processed to generate your summary. 
Will Krisp slow down my computer?
Krisp is designed to be lightweight, but noise cancellation does use some CPU. On modern computers, this should be unnoticeable. If you experience slowdowns, try the "Balanced" noise cancellation mode in Krisp settings, which uses fewer resources.
I don't see "Krisp Microphone" in my meeting app. What do I do?
Make sure the Krisp app is running . Look for the Krisp icon in your system tray. If it's running and still not showing, try restarting your meeting app. If the problem continues, contact the IT Service Desk.
Do people I'm on a call with also need Krisp?
No. Krisp works on your end only. Other participants benefit from your improved audio quality without needing to install anything themselves.
