Archiving user OneDrive files

OneDrive Archiving

 

First find the Archive User files in M365 Admin Center by searching the user Archive

 

You should see this :

That is the archive set we are looking for to copy users files to.

Click on the user, then click on OneDrive in the profile, then click on 'create a link to view', once the link is created then click on it to see all the BU archives, it would be best to save each BU archive to your OneDrive in order to make for easier navigation when doing the OneDrive Archiving for

 

After you click on the link you should see this :

You can then right click on each Archive set and from the popup menu choose 'Add shortcut to My Files' (see below)

Once you click on the link a shortcut is created in your OneDrive home page ( see below )

You can always get to your OneDrive homepage by using this link : https://usam3-my.sharepoint.com/my  and the shortcuts you created will be listed there like above.

 

Next Steps ::

 

Then find the user (users files to be copied/archived) in M365 Admin, create link to OneDrive, using the prompt in the system, to the files and then click on the link

The once you are on the users page, make sure to use the vertical scroll bar to go to the bottom of all the files and then click the select all bubble at the top

Then click copy to
(Note, if you do not have a 'Copy To' option, only a 'Move To' option, look for any shared files vs. private files and remove them, that should allow the 'Copy To' option to be visible / restored)

Then navigate to the BU
Then create new folder ( using the format Archive_FirstName_LastName )

 

Once you see the BU's you can add each Archive for each BU to your files home page for easier navigation ( see pic below)

Then 'Copy To' the newly created folder
