How to Export/Import Your Browser Bookmarks in Chrome

Export/Import Your Bookmarks

When you receive a new laptop, unfortunately the bookmarks/favorites in your browser don't transfer automatically.

Follow the steps below to transfer them from your old laptop to your new one.

Exporting Your Bookmarks

  1. In Chrome, click the three ellipses on the top right to open the browser settings.
  2. Hover over 'Bookmarks'.
  3. Click on 'Bookmark manager'.

      4. On the Bookmarks page that opens, click the three ellipses on the header of the page.

      5. Click on 'Export Bookmarks'.

      6. Find a location to save the bookmark file.

 

Note - If you are logged in to Onedrive and you save the file to your Desktop, the file will transfer to the new laptop once you sign in to Onedrive there as well.

 

Importing Your Bookmarks

  1. In Chrome, click the three ellipses on the top right to open the browser settings.
  2. Hover over 'Bookmarks'.
  3. Click 'Import Bookmarks and Settings..."

      4. Select the drop down menu arrow, followed by 'Bookmarks HTML File'. Then, 'Choose File'.

      5. Find the file that you saved above.

Your bookmarks should now be imported into your browser.
